We’re excited to announce a major step forward in IoT connectivity: the TCG140-4 4G LTE I/O module from Teracom now fully supports integration with AWS IoT Core, the cloud platform at the heart of Amazon Web Services’ IoT ecosystem. This enhancement significantly expands the possibilities for real-time monitoring, control, and data analysis in industrial and remote environments.

Thanks to built-in support for the MQTT protocol, the TCG140-4 can now both publish sensor data and subscribe to control commands over secure TLS-encrypted channels. This allows seamless two-way communication with AWS services such as AWS Lambda, Amazon CloudWatch, or Amazon DynamoDB, enabling event-driven responses, logging, and real-time dashboards.

Importantly, the TCG140-4 is a cellular device and, like most such devices, typically does not have a public IP address. Nevertheless, by leveraging MQTT Subscribe, the module can still be remotely controlled from AWS in real time — bypassing NAT, firewalls, and traditional IP routing challenges.

To ensure full security and compliance, the module allows users to upload their X.509 certificates and private keys directly through a simple web interface. Once configured, the TCG140-4 establishes a secure TLS connection to AWS IoT Core, ensuring all data in transit is encrypted and authenticated.

This update makes TCG140-4 an even more powerful solution for a wide range of applications including smart infrastructure, industrial automation, environmental monitoring, and asset tracking. Organizations already using AWS can now integrate TCG140-4 devices with minimal setup and maximum compatibility.
